About Inner Strength:

Inner Strength Education is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering youth through
mindfulness and other restorative and critical thinking tools. Our mission is to support
adolescents by teaching them valuable tools and techniques that promote mental well-being,
emotional resilience, systems thinking, and self empowerment. Founded in 2014, Inner Strength
has served more than 25,000 high school students, with its 3-month in school mindfulness
program and 3,000 teachers with stress management programs. Through our school programs,
we endeavor to uplift the school climate and enable students to better navigate the challenges
they face and build a bright, meaningful, and successful future.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Part-Time Development Director to support our
work. The Development Director will play a crucial role in building relationships, seeking
sponsorship opportunities, and securing funding to sustain and expand our mindfulness
programs for Philadelphia teens and our thought leadership programs including 2025 Future of
Education conference.The ideal candidate is a self-starter, experienced in the world of
philanthropy. This position requires a strong background in fundraising, including various
aspects such as individual donor relations, major donor solicitations, partnership and
sponsorship coordination, legacy development, and campaign management. The ideal
candidate will possess excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as a deep
commitment to the mission to uplift youth, transform our educational environment, and create a
positive future that serves all, especially the historically under-resourced populations.

Scope of work will be defined with the successful candidate, and may include:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to support the organization's
    mission and goals.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors, sponsors, and partners to secure
    financial support.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing donors, providing regular updates on
    program outcomes and impact.
  • Plan and execute fundraising events, including donor appreciation events, community
    outreach initiatives, and online campaigns.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to develop and execute a
    long-term sustainability plan.
  • Develop and maintain a donor database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records of all
    donor interactions and contributions.
  • Prepare regular reports on fundraising activities, financial progress, and program outcomes for the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
  • Stay informed about current trends and best practices in fundraising and non-profit management.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Non-Profit Management, Fundraising, Communications) or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in fundraising, grant writing, and donor relations, preferably within the
    non-profit sector.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling proposals and effectively engage with donors.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet
    deadlines.
  • Knowledge of mindfulness meditation practices and their benefits, particularly in relation to
    inner-city teens, is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in using fundraising software and donor management systems, ideally with
    NeonCRM.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
    Passion for the organization's mission and a genuine interest in supporting inner-city teens.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, as required for fundraising events and donor
    meetings.


This is a part-time, hourly position. Compensation commensurate with experience.
This position can be fulfilled virtually or in-person at the Inner Strength offices at Industrious,
Fashion District, 901 Market St, 3rd floor, #122, Philadelphia, PA 19107-3111
