Description
Coordinate, support and implement the Latino Family Literacy Project and other programs to parents of English Learner (EL) students.
Coordinate and implementation of events and activities for the purpose of enhancing and increasing the parent engagement of EL students.
Coordinate and support learning opportunities to increase English proficiency levels and technology skills of parents of EL students.
Coordinate and implement community events in targeted district networks.
Develop and implement parent sessions for Parent Portal, Uniform Assistance Program, SBDM, PTA/PTO for parents of EL students.
Collaborate on the planning and development of classes for EL students and their parents to improve literacy.
Coordinate school outreach programs for parents of EL students on topics that will help parents support their children academically, socially and emotionally.
Coordinate training seminars and workshops for campus staff through the department training academy to build capacity on parent engagement for parents of EL students.
Coordinate, support and help improve communication among school personnel and non-English speaking parents.
Maintain appropriate records to include documentation of all coordinated and/or facilitated events and activities related to Title III functions (parental engagement).
Coordinate leadership development to parents of EL students to encourage meaningful participation in school governance and student advocacy.
Utilize district data to collaborate and coordinate parental instructional plan to support student achievement at elementary and secondary schools.
Communicate effectively with principals, community/parent liaisons and other district staff concerning parent and community engagement of parents of EL students.
Collaborate with principals and school leadership to facilitate implementation of parent communication campaigns and parent events promoting student achievement and parent engagement.
Perform all other grant related tasks and duties as needed.
Work required evenings and Saturdays as required for Bilingual ESL Department and district events.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in a directly related field preferred.
Three years or more of successful teaching experience working with English language learners in a Dual Language, ESL or Newcomer Programs.
Demonstrates excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Oracle.
Demonstrated ability to communicate written and oral with a diverse community and the public at large.
Demonstrated excellent planning and organizational skills.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the development, implementation and monitoring of parent engagement programs.
Demonstrated competence in cross-cultural communication, training ability, and parent-school-community partnerships.
Demonstrated ability to work successfully with parents of district students, as well as all levels of district employees.
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
