Chief Advancement Officer

UMass Dartmouth, a thriving public research university and critical engine of social mobility located on Massachusetts’ Southcoast, invites nominations and applications for the position of Chief Advancement Officer (CAO). Reporting directly to Chancellor Mark Fuller and serving as a member of the Chancellor’s cabinet, the Chief Advancement Officer provides strategic direction and leadership for all fundraising, alumni relations, and advancement operations functions. The CAO will bring a forward-thinking, collaborative approach to the team of 18 staff, including 10 direct reports. The CAO will foster positive and productive internal and external relationships with campus constituencies, alumni, corporate and foundation partners, and beyond that inspire giving and participation at all levels.

The next leader of the Advancement division will join UMass Dartmouth at an exciting moment of institutional momentum and ambition. Building on recent philanthropic successes and growing alumni engagement, the CAO will play a central role in shaping a forward-looking advancement program that reflects the university’s strategic priorities and distinctive mission. The CAO will develop and implement a comprehensive advancement strategy; serve as a strategic partner for Chancellor Fuller; evaluate and enhance advancement operations; lead donor cultivation with authenticity and purpose; steward and play a strategic leadership role in the UMass Dartmouth Foundation Board; broaden and diversify alumni and constituent engagement; recruit, mentor, and empower a strong advancement team; and foster cross-campus collaboration.

This is a full-time position that will be performed on-site in Massachusetts. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The salary range for this role is $260,000-280,000 and will include a generous benefits package.
