This individual is responsible for developing and implementing strategies and initiatives that identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward annual gifts from current and prospective Oberlin Annual Fund donors to ensure both a strong base of ongoing annual financial support and a high level of alumni participation.

This is a full-time, 12-months per year, Administrative and Professional Staff position in the Advancement Department, which will report to the Assistant Vice President for Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving and work closely with colleagues in all other areas of Advancement, as well as with alumni, colleagues across campus, and volunteers.

  • Work with the Director of Donor Relations to maintain and enhance donor recognition, retention, and stewardship through appropriate giving societies, communications, and activities.
  • Manage a portfolio of assigned prospects, as well as identify new prospects, in order to cultivate, solicit, and close leadership annual gifts.
  • Travel for personal visitation with leadership annual giving prospects for the purposes of cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and volunteer recruitment.
  • Work with other Advancement staff, primarily in the Leadership Gifts, Principal Gifts, and Gift Planning offices, to plan strategies for cultivation and solicitation of prospective donors for planned and major gifts when such an interest is discovered or suspected.
  • Partner with colleagues in Parent & Family Giving on unrestricted giving to general operations, the Parents Fund, and scholarship support.
  • Collaborate with colleagues who will direct various reunions and class giving activities to set class fundraising goals, and determine and implement strategies for achieving them, including through the use of a reunion giving programming.
  • Collaborate with other team members to engage members of the Alumni Leadership Council and other volunteer leaders to support the Oberlin Annual Fund.
  • Maintain and enhance relationships within the College with colleagues in areas most closely linked to annual giving, as well as other departments, faculty, students, alumni and volunteers.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage an annual giving program, including prospect identification, cultivation and solicitation activities.
  • Desire to be part of a successful, dynamic leadership team; excellent staff management skills; collaborative approach to team-building.
  • Ability to think strategically, critically, and creatively about activities and programs, and the relationship among various Advancement teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work well in a team setting and with all constituents of the College, with particular attention to sensitive and diplomatic handling of matters. Discretion in dealing with confidential information is essential.
